Important Information
* Application Deadline: March 15, 1998
* Paper Presentations
The deadline for receipt of all abstracts is May 1, 1998 . Anyone who
wishes to speak at the Conference must submit the titles and abstracts of
their talks. Electronic submissions are welcome. Please keep your abstract
with references in one page of A4 size (21cm x 30cm, or 16cm x 23cm exclusive
of margins). Send your LaTeX or AmSTeX file to our home page address
( ICRT@math.ecnu.edu.cn).
We will make a decision on acceptance of contributed talks and poster
presentations within four weeks of receipt of the abstract. Contributed talks
will be 20 minutes each. Selected papers presented in the Conference will be
published by a Chinese Publishing House together with a foreign one.
* Accommodation and Board
During the Conference participants may stay in the Campus at a specially
negotiated rate. We have the four classes (with bath and air-conditioning)
for your choice in our Campus Hotel (Hong Lou):
- (A) Big suite (with limited quantities) 43 USD per night;
- (B) Small suite (with limited quantities) 30 USD per night;
- (C) Double room (with enough quantities) 20 USD per night;
- (D) Single room (with limited quantities) 18 USD per night.
For those who would like to live outside, we could accommodate them in
Jin Sha Hotel (10 minutes from University Campus on foot) at a specially
negotiated rate (about 50 USD per night including breakfast).
We will book the Hotel rooms for you. In the
second announcement, we will inform you how to get to the hotel.
Any person living in Campus
Hotel needs to pay 10 USD per day for his/her meals. Any person living
outside the campus need to pay 8 USD per day for his/her lunch and dinner,
if he/she wants to have lunch and dinner in the conference dining room.
* Local Travel
It is easy to get around Shanghai by taxi, or bus. The public transportation
is inexpensive, and the frequency of service is every 10 minutes. The
ECNU campus and Jin Sha Hotel are about 30--35 minutes from the airport by
taxi. The taxi fares is around 30--40 yuan R.M.B.
* International Travel
You are urged to make your international travel reservations as soon as
possible in order to assure the most convenient travel schedule. All
participants must make their own travel arrangements between home and
Shanghai. There are a lot of flights between Shanghai and cities over the
world: New York, Chicago, Los Angels, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto,
Vancouver, Frankfurt, Zurich, Munich, Sydney, Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore,
Hong Kong, Seoul, Moscow, New Deli.
Many airlines have service
in Shanghai (Northwestern, United, Air China,
China Eastern etc. serve flights from North America to Shanghai, other
airlines include Japan airline, Korean airline, Singapore airline)
* Visas
Every foreign visitor to China must hold
a valid passport with a valid visa. You can easily get a
travel visa to China. However, we intend to invite you as a guest
of our conference. Those who can provide their passport numbers to the
local organizers before March 15th will be able to get invitation
letters from Jianpan Wang, the chair person of the conference and then proceed
visa matter easily. The local organizers will be able to inform
consulates.
Those who choose to apply for
a travel visa later should also give
sufficient time for consulates to proceed.
* About Shanghai
The conference will organize a half-day sightseeing tour to the city of
Shanghai. Shanghai, with a population of 13 million, is the largest city
in China and has been the industrial, commercial and
financial center of China since 1920's. It locates in the west
coast of the Pacific Ocean, about 1,200 km south of Beijing, the capital of
the country. The temperature in Shanghai in early July is between
25--33°C.
* One day visit to Suzhou
Suzhou, located 80 km north of Shanghai, is a city of about 2,500 years
old, famous by its various Chinese classical gardens. During the
conference, there will be a one-day tour to Suzhou. Those who are
interested in it will need to pay 25 USD for the costs, including
travelling, lunch and all entrance-tickets.
* Design A Sightseeing Tour in China for Yourself
You may design for yourself a sightseeing tour in China before or
after the conference. Beijing, Hangzhou, Xi'an, Guilin, Chongqing
etc. are interesting places. You may
contact a traveling agency in your home country, or you tell us your
interest so that we can contact traveling agencies in Shanghai.
Of course, the tour has to be paid by yourself.
* Registration
The registration fee will be
- 120 USD, if paid before March 15th;
- 130 USD, if paid between March 15th and May 15th;
- 140 USD, if paid after May 15th.
There is no registration fee for participant's family members.
We appreciate greatly if you
can pay the registration fee as earlier
as possible. This will help organiers very much.
A personal check will be fine if you pay
before May 15th. After May 15th, please pay traveling checks or currency
(in US Dollars, Japanese Yen, Deutsche Marks, UK Pounds, French Francs
or Hong Kong Dollars). You may also choose to transfer the fee through your bank to
the bank account of East China Normal University. Please make it
clear on your transfer bill that the amount you pay is for your ICRT fee.
