Selected Labs for Excel 2008 for Mac
There is a bug in Excel 2008 that affects "forms," which includes the
scroll bars we use in several studios. When you click on a form element,
the
element's image will jump on the page to a new location, typically one or
two cells up from the original location. This renders scroll bars
extremely
difficult to use since you have to track them down and move them without
having them jump back. This bug is not present in earlier versions of
Excel for Mac and we have had no reports of any problems in Excel for
Windows, where we use the windows-only technique of "controls" instead of
"forms" ("controls" and "forms" look the same externally, but behave
differently internally). Because controls give better performance (things
slide smoother), we recommend these studios be completed under windows. If
you have a Mac and an earlier version of Excel, use the Mac-friendly
version posted on the home page. If you must use a Mac and Excel 2008,
then we have prepared the
version below using "spinners" instead of scroll bars. These don't give
the same feel of movement, but are much easier to use since they record
each click to increment or decrement values before they jump around the
screen.
