concerning scholarships
General Criteria
Mathematics scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit.
In the case of the Fuller Scholarship, need is considered after merit has been established.
All mathematics scholarships require a
Major in Mathematics
or a
Dual Major in Math and another curriculum.
Mathematics scholarships are for one year and, once awarded, are renewable for three additional years
provided a 3.7 or better grade point average, overall and in math, is maintained
and a letter of appreciation is written to the donor.
Please read additional criteria below.

More on Continuing Student Awards
New or additional awards and scholarships are occasionally offered
to K-State undergraduate math majors for academic successes above and beyond their peers.
For example, Math Scholars may have:
earned "A" in 500 level or above math courses in their freshmen or sophomore year;
earned K-State's highest or 2nd highest score on the Putnam Math Competition;
completed I-Center research under a faculty advisor;
presented a paper or poster at a meeting;
or co-authored and published research.
Their qualifications are usually accompanied by a record of all A's in math
setting class curves and impressing the math faculty they encounter.
Our scholars often maintain a 3.9 - 4.0 GPA and take graduate level math as undergraduates.
Some of these students tutor in our advanced 500 to 600 level math help sessions.
They are an excellent peer group, setting bench marks for their classmates
and a friendly atmosphere of academic competition.
All K-State math majors are considered each year for scholarships based on:
- their academic and research work at K-State, both overall and in math;
- their participation and performance in internship, research, and
study abroad experiences;
- their performance in the Kansas Collegiate, Mathematical Modeling, and Putnam Math Competitions;
- their participation at professional conferences, meetings, and workshops;
- faculty recommendations;
- availability of funds.
