Homepage and Resume Creation

Five easy steps to creating a homepage:

  • Step 1: Get an email address at 313 Hale Library.
  • Step 2: Log on to the unix system and type "mkdir .html". This will create a directory to hold all your homepage data.
  • Step 3: Type "pico index_html". This will create a file called index_html which is where you will store all of the information you want on your homepage (for example, your resume).
  • Step 4: Go to the CNS Tools for Web Publishing page for HTML formatting codes and for further tips to creating your homepage.
  • Step 5: Be sure to change the permissions on your homepage so it may be viewed by others. To do this, type "chmod a+r filename" at the unix prompt.
