Departmental Computing Resources

Don Eisele is the Systems Administrator. He is in charge of ordering, maintaining and setting up all departmental computer equipment and software. Don performs backups for the UNIX system and office computers, and he is responsible for locating and correcting any problems with the computers used by the Mathematics Department, including the Mathematics-Physics Microcomputer Laboratory. He is available for consultation with faculty and staff, and sets up all computer accounts on the UNIX system. Don can be reached by e-mail at Eisele@math.ksu.edu.

Classroom Projection Equipment

The department has a laptop computer and projector on a cart, two regular angle overhead projectors on carts, several portable projection screens, a television and VCR on a cart, and an 8 mm camcorder and tripod in CW 133A for mathematics instructors to use in Cardwell Hall. Susan Roberts, the Office Manager handles reservations and repairs of this equipment.

There are four wide angle overhead projectors on carts for instructors to use in CW 101. These projectors are kept in the front of CW 101 near the large projection screens. ITAC (Hale Library 509, phone 2-4918) handles repairs of the Buhl 120 series overhead projectors (the smaller, less bright projectors with grey plastic projection stages). Susan Roberts, the Office Manager handles repairs of the Buhl 2900 overhead projectors (the large, super-bright projectors with the red on/off switches and grey metal projection stages). There is an Elmo document projector and a port to connect a laptop computer to the projector on the south side of the desk in CW 101. Contact Andrew Bennett for guidance on using the Elmo projector. ITAC (Hale Library 509, phone 2-4918) handles repairs of this equipment.

There is a computer, an Elmo document projector and computer projector in the Math-Physics Computing Lab (CW 41). Don Eisele handles repairs of this equipment.

The Department has several laptop computers and portable computer projectors for use by mathematics instructors in classroom instruction. See Don Eisele to reserve this equipment.

Office Computers

Each graduate student office is equipped with a computer. Graduate students may keep data on these computers, but should be aware that installing updated versions of software or new software may take up all the free disk space. Extra, user-installed software may have to be removed, without prior notification, to allow room for department owned software. There is a laser printer located in CW 125 for GTA use. The computer, laser printer and scanner located in CW 201 are for faculty use only. This includes research materials, theses and dissertations. The computers in the main office (CW 135, 136, 137 and 138) are reserved for office business use. Please do not use them.
