The K-State Math Club holds regular Meetings
which anyone can attend.
We may play games, show movies, solve puzzles, or have speakers, but we always serve refreshments.
Come join us and bring a friend.
If you would like to become a member or just come to meetings,
then contact Alyson Deines
or Matthew Burkemper.
Anyone interested in mathematics may join the Math Club which is a student chapter
of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). There are no dues, but joining
the Math Club entitles students to reduced membership fees for the MAA which range
from $20 to $30, depending on the journal you select. There are four journals to choose from:
Math Horizons,
Mathematics Magazine,
The College Mathematics Journal, or
The American Mathematical Monthly.
For more information on MAA student chapters, access the
MAA Student Chapters homepage
and the MAA Students page.
A copy of the MAA Student
Chapter Membership Form is available on MAA Online.
The K-State Math Club and Chapter of the honor society Pi Mu Epsilon sponsor various
extracurricular mathematical activities such as the Undergraduate Lectures in
Mathematics which are designed to appeal to a diverse audience composed mostly
of undergraduate mathematics majors. Math Club members also help organize and run exhibits
for Open House
and participate in Math Awareness Month, Telefund and
other activities. Here is the Open House
Math Club Display.
The Math Club supports travel by graduate students and undergraduates to mathematical
and scientific conferences, exhibitions, institutes, meetings, and workshops, such as the annual
joint meeting of the Mathematical Association of America
and the American Mathematical Society, the
spring meeting of the Kansas section of the MAA, and the
Mathematical Sciences Research Institute.
