Kansas Collegiate Mathematics  Competition

Contest Rules

  1. Any college or university in Kansas can send up to two teams. Teams will consist of a minimum of two and a maximum of three undergraduate students. A one-person team will only be allowed in the competition if this person is his/her school's only representative in the competition.
  2. A completed registration form for each team must be sent by March 1, 20905. Late registration will be accepted only if there is room for the team in the competition.
  3. All team coaches will meet on Friday, March 18, 2005, at 6:00 p.m. to dicuss the problems that will be offered.
  4. The exam consist of 5 problems. The problems will normally be accessible to sophomore students and even well-prepared freshmen. Each problem is worth 10 points and wil be scored by a committee selected from participating schools. for full credit on a problem the answer must be correct and all supporting work must be shown.
  5. Calculators are allowed. No books or notes may be used during the exam.
  6. The top two contestant scores from each team will be used to determine the team's score and ranking. The winners will be announced at the Kansas Section Meeeting. The top three individual winners will receive a cash award and plaque. The first place team will receive a cash award and plaque.
