MATH 499 C   K-State Mathematical Modeling Seminar - Spring

We are offering a one credit class on mathematical modeling this spring, and we are putting together two teams to compete in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling. If you are curious about how mathematics is applied in business, government, or industry, then this is the class for you.

The class is designed to introduce students to techniques and ideas from modeling and applied mathematics. It will meet for one hour each Wednesday and is highly recommended for math or physics majors who are not necessarily going to graduate school. The class will also help prepare our teams for the Mathematical Contest in Modeling. The MCM is a contest in which teams of three students collaborate over an extended weekend on an applied mathematics problem. They can use anything to help them solve the problem other than other people. This year the contest will take place February 14-18.

Please feel free to contact David Auckly with questions about the class or about the contest. If you are interested in the contest, please register at our Mathematical Contest in Modeling Sign Up
