MATH 499C   The Fascination of Tiling

Professor Doris Schattschneider from Moravian College will give an undergraduate mini-course on The Fascination of Tiling in the fall semester of 1995. The class will meet during the week of September 18-22 only. Interested students should sign up for 1 credit of MATH 499.

Tilings are everywhere - they serve utilitarian and decorative purposes in all cultures; they serve as recreation in puzzles and provide delight through Escher's drawings. They hold geometric secrets, just waiting to be discovered. Tilings can be analyzed, they can be created, and they can pose lots of interesting questions, many not yet answered. Learn the fascination of tiling.
