MATH 520: Foundations of Analysis

Course description:

An introduction to the basic concepts of analysis: Sequences and series, functions and continuiy, and differentiation and integration. The focus is on
the developement and cultivation of  the student's abilities to work in an abstract setting with precise definitions and logical and complete proofs.


Grading policy:

Attendance and participation are requiered. Final grades will be based on witten work and participation, as follows:
20% for homework, 20% for the midterm, 20% for an essay due during the last third of the course, 10% for your
work in class partcipation (this includes working on problems in class and discussion of assigned additional readings),
and 30% for the final.
